AFL South East would like to congratulate the 72 players that have earned selection in the initial squad for the 2019 Southern Stingrays Boys Under-15 V/Line program.
Eligible players have been talent identified across the three leagues in the AFL South East region – Frankston and Districts Junior Football League (FDJFL), Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League (MPJFL) and South East Juniors (SEJ).
The first of five training sessions will take place on Wednesday 7 August at Linen House, Seaford, as the squad begins the build-up to the V/Line Carnival which will be held in Shepparton/Mooroopna on Monday 23 and Wednesday 25 September.
A final squad of 48 players will be selected, with two teams of 24 to play across two divisions. The V/Line Carnival is a vital next step in gaining selection for the Stingrays Boys Under-16 Program for 2020.
The V/Line Boys program is part of the AFL talent pathway and is supported by Dandenong Stingrays, St Kilda FC NGA and Melbourne FC Academy.
WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country’s premier junior regional championships, the V/Line Cup, is set to be bigger and better than ever when the competition returns to Shepparton this year.
Now in its sixteenth year as the official naming rights partner of the carnival, V/Line has contributed extensively in providing the opportunity for young players to challenge themselves against the best in their age group across regional Victoria.
In 2019, the V/Line Cup has grown to include 14 Under 15 Boys and eight U15 Girls teams, with more than 550 participants expected to flock to Shepparton for the occasion.
For many competing at these championships, the V/Line Cup will be a steppingstone to AFL Victoria’s mainstream talent pathway, the TAC Cup and TAC Cup Girls competitions.
In addition, the V/Line Cup also provides an important development pathway for young umpires, with all field umpires at the Championships members of V/Line Umpire Academy.
