The build-up to the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League’s (MPNFL) big clash against Ovens and Murray (O&M) at Rosebud on Saturday is gaining momentum – with players to be presented with their playing kits at Frankston Park tonight.
All three MPNFL teams – Senior Football, Under 19s and Senior Netball – will engage as one as the cream of MPNFL talent takes the final step before taking to the fields and courts of Olympic Park on Saturday, May 18.
The 2019 WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships senior clash promises to be a beauty, between the third and fourth-ranked leagues in the state. MPNFL coach Chris Holcombe has a talented list at his disposal as he looks to turn around a disappointing loss to Northern last year.
Dual league best and fairest winner Paul ‘Chewy’ Scanlon has led an enthusiastic group through a thorough under-19s campaign and has challenged his boys to showcase their elite skills on the big stage.
How lucky are our under-19s boys, with Scanlon assisted by MPNFL legends in Byron Barry, Tim Bongetti and Adam Hunter.
And our netball girls are primed for a big performance after an extensive preparation led by Tyabb coach Keira Wills – who had to narrow a very-strong squad down to a quality team of 10.
Host club Rosebud will have a big say in the contest with Beth Leach, Emma White and Millie McDermott all set to play key roles against the confident visitors.
The under-19s kick things off at 10.30am, followed by the netballers at 11.15am, before the senior football clash gets underway at 1 pm.
Our filming partners at Red Onion will work with GameFace commentators Dan Lonergan and Paul Wilson to bring you all the football action, while our great friends at RPP will provide video and commentary of the netball – with Tahlia Hartskeerl behind the microphone alongside an Ovens and Murray representative.
We will provide numbered lists of all MPNFL teams tomorrow, Thursday, May 16.
Good luck to all MPNFL teams on Saturday.
