Infinite Fitness Peninsula – Passionate about a healthy SEJ
Infinite Fitness Peninsula – Passionate about a healthy SEJ
Creating healthy mental and physical habits for players across the South East Juniors is the main focus point for the SEJ’s newest support partner – Infinite Fitness Peninsula (IFP).   IFP is the official Gymnasium/Fitness partner of SEJ and has also engaged as support partner of the SEJ Junior Development Program – which culminates in participation in the AFL South East Regional Junior Championships in early June.   Co-owned by two people that know that being strong and confident – mentally and physically – can lead to sustained success both on and off the field, IFP aims to pass that knowledge and experience on to participants across the region.   Ben Tallis and Steve Roberts combined for eight premierships with the all-conquering Frankston YCW Football Club, where dedication and commitment - and self-improvement from all levels of players - lead to a decade of dominance. Steve (left) and Ben, and their specialised team of strength and conditioning coaches, are now passionate about creating a learning space for juniors athletes and non-athletes to develop strong habits that will help them excel at their chosen sports - or simply improve their quality of life.   IFP’s Junior Athletic Development Program (JADP) is the key pillar in turning Ben and Steve’s passion into reality.   “There’s a modern trend of increased injuries in young athletes and a lot of this is due to poor technique and mechanics,” Ben said.   “Our vision is to educate young athletes, and their coaches, to better prepare the players for the demands of sport through adolescence. And the mental health and well-being side of things is huge for us as well – we want to build a positive and supportive environment for every single person or club that engages with us.”   The JADP is designed to give parents of the South-East region the confidence of having their child in the best-structured and most professional program in the region, run by highly-qualified trainers that take great pride in building confidence and technique in the youth of today.   Steve, the current High-Performance Manager of Frankston Dolphins in the VFL and strength and conditioning coach of the Karingal Football Netball Club, is also excited by the outcomes that will be achieved.   “This is what Ben and I have been striving for, to share the experiences we have had, and the knowledge we have learnt,” he said.   “We are passionate about creating healthy communities instead of healthy children being part of a minority. The Junior Athletic Development Program is something we and the team are very excited about delivering to players of all fitness levels and skill sets.” IFP’s state-of-the-art 900-square-metre facility can be found at 22 Remount Way, Cranbourne West.   Clubs, teams, parents, and participants can take the first steps to a fitter, healthier version of themselves today.   Visit the IFP website at https://www.ifp.com.au/ to find more details, or to learn more about the Junior Athletic Development Program (JADP) contact Travis on 0429 143 972 or via email at travis@ifp.com.au   Thanks to IFP for becoming a proud support partner of the South East Juniors.   -ENDS-

GREAT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN SPORT

Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program

It’s not too late! Skills Try Outs on Wednesday, February 10

Careers in sport are often defined by that one special moment when it’s almost too late, that rare occasion when one act of determination or skill can change your own sporting landscape forever. And when it comes to great opportunities for a career in sport – the Skills Try-Out for the Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program is the ‘not too late’ moment that could change your career opportunities right now. This is the equivalent of a kick after the siren, the three-pointer on the buzzer, or the netball intercept in the last seconds of play – that big career moment that you will remember for a lifetime. But this memorable moment is so easy to make happen! Simply register by emailing sportsacademy@chisholm.edu.au and lock yourself in – obligation free – for the Skills Try-Out to take place at Casey Stadium on Wednesday, February 10. Rising Stars VCE/VCAL Program • Sports Academy Dual Diploma • Sports Academy Fitness Program If you are passionate about playing football – and have the talent and drive to take that passion further – the Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program could be for you. This unique opportunity offers sport-specific training – three mornings a week from 9 to 11.30 am – under the expert tutelage of former Melbourne player and AFLW Assistant Coach Corey Maynard at the newly renovated football facilities at Casey Fields. In addition to these three 90-minute training sessions, student/athletes will also access a tailored strength and conditioning program and develop that important sport/life balance with academic programs that provide industry desired qualifications. – all run out of Chisholm’s modern Cranbourne Campus. The Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program allows you to complete your senior secondary VCE/ VCAL program, a Certificate III / IV in Fitness or a Dual Diploma in Sport Coaching and Development/Sport and Recreation Management for those seeking a career within the sports or fitness industries. So if you are looking to kick goals – both on and off the field – and reach your full potential, take the first steps in starting your sports career at Chisholm today. Alyssa Dorio is certainly glad she chose Chisholm as a pathway through to University. After not achieving her desired VCE results Alyssa was unsure of her future. “But I knew I still wanted to study,” Alyssa said, with Chisholm’s ‘no ATAR required’ message giving her confidence that enrolling for the Dual Diploma in Sport – and completing it in just 12 months - was a step in the right direction. “I knew I would find new opportunities via the diploma in the hopes of doing a Uni degree,” she said. Alyssa excelled academically at Chisholm, achieving high distinctions in most of her units and was a nominee for Vocational Student of the Year at the 2020 Chisholm Education Awards. She has gone on to follow her passion for sport and is currently studying a Bachelor of Physical Education and Sport Science at Victoria University with plans to study further. “I plan to complete my degree and then progress to a Masters of Teaching to be a qualified Health/Physical Education teacher,” she said. “I would love to teach in a secondary school and maybe one day become a leader or coordinator of the sporting department at a school.” Chisholm’s Dual Diploma teacher, Donna Stevens, believes TAFE pathways offer students a unique gateway to higher education. “The Dual Diploma qualification offers students the opportunity to follow a pathway into a university degree with guaranteed entry into Deakin University and options for credits at many other universities as well,” Stevens said. “Our students are well placed for success in higher education owing to the combination of theory and practical experiences gained in the classroom.” Remember - this could be the ‘not too late’ moment that could change your career opportunities right now. -ENDS-
