Volunteer sports trainers and first aiders have been part of the fabric of sporting clubs since their very origins and play a key role in player preparation and safety at all levels.
AFL South East (AFLSE) – in accordance with the AFL National Community Trainers Policy – takes the safety of all participants seriously and has engaged a local Registered Training Organisation (RTO) – Hero HQ – as its preferred CPR, ERC and First Aid Training partner across the AFLSE region.
This additional training will support the existing relationship for clubs who engage medics from our existing partners, Colbrow Medics and Medical Edge, providing all participants with the highest level of first-aid care.
This comment from Hero HQ CEO Nikki Jurcutz sums up its mission.
“At Hero HQ we believe that learning should be satisfying, engaging, cost and time effective and boundaryless. We are on a mission to empower every Australian to become a First Aid Hero.”
Hero HQ is located in Pakenham and currently looks after many large organisations from Bunnings, AFL Clubs, AFL House, Apple, and to over 500 schools nationally. Hero HQ is endorsed by the AFL to deliver ERC training.
Its trainers are paramedics and nurses who will conduct sessions that are contextualized and highly interactive.
Hero HQ will manage bookings and work with clubs and AFLSE from a compliance perspective to ensure each club has the correct numbers trained for game day.
Courses run on three consecutive Sundays – from February 9 to 23 – at Hero HQ’s Cranbourne, Pakenham and Frankston Training Centres.
