On behalf of its member clubs, AFL South East would like to congratulate Frankston Bombers captain Sam Fox on his selection in the 2019 Hard Yakka/Totally Workwear VFL Team of the Year.
The 27-year-old had a fantastic season for Sandringham, kicking 19 goals from 18 matches with his forward pressure and clean hands a key factor in being selected in the starting 18.
Fox kicked three goals on two separate occasions this year – against Northern Blues and Richmond – and was nominated eight times in the Zebras list of best players. His selection in the Team of the Year is a shining light for the Zebras – who won just six of 18 matches to finish in twelfth place on the ladder.
Fox – who had a previous stint at Frankston – has a strong link to community football, having won the league best and fairest award with the Bombers in the Nepean League in 2016 and is currently the Community Football and Next Generation Academy Coordinator for the St Kilda Football Club.
He also coached the FDJFL Under 17s to victory in the AFLSE Regional Junior Championships over the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
Congratulations Sam from everyone involved in the MPNFL and AFL South East Region.
