The AFLV Community Level 3 Coach Accreditation will be offered as a separate stream to that of the State/Talent/AFL Club Coaches in 2021-22.
This additional Level 3 Coach Accreditation opportunity has been created to cater for experienced community coaches’ development needs.
The program incorporates a set of practical assessment tasks completed in course and in the coaching context between course segments.
Please note, with the ongoing impact of COVID-19 it is anticipated that the course will be delivered a blended program delivered virtually and face to face over an 8-month period.
  • Phase 1 of the course will be delivered over two sessions as a face-to-face workshop to be held in Melbourne.

  • Phase 3 will be conducted as 5 x 1.5-hour monthly online Webinar sessions. Coaches will be divided into small Peer Learning Groups with opportunities to connect once a month between the formal learning sessions.
All sessions will include pre and post-reading as well as practical application tasks in the coaching environment across the course of the program.

Given that Community Level 3, Coach Accreditation is a national program (delivered in Victoria) and targeted at experienced club coaches, the demand for entry into the program is very high.. For more information click here: AFLV Community Level 3 Coach Accreditation Course - Intake 2021-22
AFLSE Junior Competitions – Season Update
AFLSE Junior Competitions – Season Update
AFL South East met with member clubs this week to review the impact of the current lockdowns on the 2021 season. We advise that the junior home & away season will be extended to accommodate additional home and away rounds. Previously lost Home and Away Rounds will be reinstated. The number of rounds reinstated will be dependent on when the season can recommence (as illustrated below). If a recommencement of the season was able to occur on either August 1 or August 8 the following would occur:
  • Recommence August 1
    • Round 14 played as fixtured
    • Reinstate rounds 7,8 and 13
  • Recommence August 8
    • Reinstate rounds 7,8 and 14
  • Finals:
    • A two-week finals series would commence Sunday, August 29 (Elimination Finals)
    • Grand finals would be conducted on September 5
If a recommencement of the season was able to occur on August 15 the following would occur:
  • Reinstate rounds 13 and 14
  • Finals:
    • One week finals series would be held on September (05/09)
If a recommencement of the season was not able to occur by August 22nd the official junior season would be abandoned. Our position is consistent with the AFL Victoria COVID by-law framework and provides a level of certainty for all players, volunteers, and parents as to what the remainder of the season will look like. WHAT IS FOAM ROLLING? Foam rolling works by placing direct and sweeping pressure on the soft tissue targeted. Foam rolling has shown to have short-term benefits that result in increased joint range of movement, reductions in pain, and severity of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). Foam rolling has been shown to be particularly effective in the first 1-2 days following exercise. It is theorized that foam rolling helps to produce the above results by causing short-term alterations to the neuromuscular system. However, the exact physiological mechanisms of foam rolling that cause the above results are yet to be clearly established. HOW TO EFFECTIVELY FOAM ROLL? Depending on the muscle group you are targeting, use the foam roller in a sweeping fashion along the length of the muscle. You can also friction over ‘problem’ or ‘tight’ areas. You may use a foam roller, spikey ball, trigger point ball or hand roller with this technique. WHEN TO USE FOAM ROLLING? Foam rolling can be used before or after a game of sport, for approximately 1-2 minutes per major muscle group (eg. hamstrings or quadriceps). Before a game, foam rolling should only play a small role in your active warm-up. After a game, foam rolling should be combined with an active cool-down and then static stretching. GREAT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN SPORT

Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program

It’s not too late! Skills Try Outs on Wednesday, February 10

Careers in sport are often defined by that one special moment when it’s almost too late, that rare occasion when one act of determination or skill can change your own sporting landscape forever. And when it comes to great opportunities for a career in sport – the Skills Try-Out for the Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program is the ‘not too late’ moment that could change your career opportunities right now. This is the equivalent of a kick after the siren, the three-pointer on the buzzer, or the netball intercept in the last seconds of play – that big career moment that you will remember for a lifetime. But this memorable moment is so easy to make happen! Simply register by emailing sportsacademy@chisholm.edu.au and lock yourself in – obligation free – for the Skills Try-Out to take place at Casey Stadium on Wednesday, February 10. Rising Stars VCE/VCAL Program • Sports Academy Dual Diploma • Sports Academy Fitness Program If you are passionate about playing football – and have the talent and drive to take that passion further – the Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program could be for you. This unique opportunity offers sport-specific training – three mornings a week from 9 to 11.30 am – under the expert tutelage of former Melbourne player and AFLW Assistant Coach Corey Maynard at the newly renovated football facilities at Casey Fields. In addition to these three 90-minute training sessions, student/athletes will also access a tailored strength and conditioning program and develop that important sport/life balance with academic programs that provide industry desired qualifications. – all run out of Chisholm’s modern Cranbourne Campus. The Chisholm Sports Academy Football Program allows you to complete your senior secondary VCE/ VCAL program, a Certificate III / IV in Fitness or a Dual Diploma in Sport Coaching and Development/Sport and Recreation Management for those seeking a career within the sports or fitness industries. So if you are looking to kick goals – both on and off the field – and reach your full potential, take the first steps in starting your sports career at Chisholm today. Alyssa Dorio is certainly glad she chose Chisholm as a pathway through to University. After not achieving her desired VCE results Alyssa was unsure of her future. “But I knew I still wanted to study,” Alyssa said, with Chisholm’s ‘no ATAR required’ message giving her confidence that enrolling for the Dual Diploma in Sport – and completing it in just 12 months - was a step in the right direction. “I knew I would find new opportunities via the diploma in the hopes of doing a Uni degree,” she said. Alyssa excelled academically at Chisholm, achieving high distinctions in most of her units and was a nominee for Vocational Student of the Year at the 2020 Chisholm Education Awards. She has gone on to follow her passion for sport and is currently studying a Bachelor of Physical Education and Sport Science at Victoria University with plans to study further. “I plan to complete my degree and then progress to a Masters of Teaching to be a qualified Health/Physical Education teacher,” she said. “I would love to teach in a secondary school and maybe one day become a leader or coordinator of the sporting department at a school.” Chisholm’s Dual Diploma teacher, Donna Stevens, believes TAFE pathways offer students a unique gateway to higher education. “The Dual Diploma qualification offers students the opportunity to follow a pathway into a university degree with guaranteed entry into Deakin University and options for credits at many other universities as well,” Stevens said. “Our students are well placed for success in higher education owing to the combination of theory and practical experiences gained in the classroom.” Remember - this could be the ‘not too late’ moment that could change your career opportunities right now. -ENDS-
