Crib Point has confirmed its status as one of the great netball clubs on the Mornington Peninsula with a four-goal victory over Langwarrin in the Chisholm MPNFL Division Two A Grade Grand Final at Somerville on Saturday.
The Magpies have been a benchmark performer in the MPNFL for years, with Saturday’s triumph over the Kangaroos their third premiership from six grand final appearances over the last seven years.
The Magpies defeated Tyabb in 2016/17 before suffering the pain of defeat against Karingal last year.
Star-midcourter and captain of the 2019 Team of the Year, Dionne Douglas, was outstanding for the Magpies and capped off a great season by taking home the best-on-court medal.
The Magpies thoroughly deserved their title, being the best team all year, but the Kangaroos can hold their heads high after pushing a high-quality outfit to just four goals on the biggest stage of the season.
In more grand final action. Somerville defeated Karingal in B Grade, while the Bulls had two great success stories to tell of their own, defeating Red Hill and Chelsea in C and D Grade respectively.
And Seaford would appear to have a very bright future in the MPNFL after its 17-Under team scored a 41-26 victory over Chelsea.
Congratulations to all grand finalists and premiership winners.
