A squad of 48 players plus four emergencies have been selected for the Southern Stingrays Under-15 Girls for the V/Line Carnival to be held in Shepparton and Mooroopna from Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 September.
Following a process of talent identification, a squad of 80 players participated in development sessions at Linen House, Seaford over the past month.
Throughout the program, the players have embraced the opportunity to learn as much as they can and have received information on preparation including recovery, nutrition and mental health.
Players have also had the opportunity to hear from AFLW players Shelly Heath and Bethany Lynch on their experiences in the game at the elite level.
The AFL “Prep To Play” program designed to enhance performance and reduce injury has also been a key component of the development sessions.
Head Coach and Program Coordinator Jenny Todd leads an experienced panel of coaches including former Collingwood AFLW player Georgia Walker who, along with Todd, will coach her own team.
V/Line Support Staff
The strength of the volunteer coaching panel is a great reflection of the commitment that sustains community football in the region.
The V/Line Girls program is part of the AFL talent pathway and is supported by Dandenong Stingrays, St Kilda FC NGA and Melbourne FC Academy.
Now in its sixteenth year as the official naming rights partner of the carnival, V/Line has contributed extensively in providing the opportunity for young players to challenge themselves against the best in their age group across regional Victoria.
The squad will train over the next two weeks at Linen House, Seaford in preparation for the V/Line Carnival which will be held in Shepparton/Mooroopna on Monday 23 and Wednesday 25 September.
Congratulations to the following players selected.
