Beaconsfield Blue is the first big winner on SEJ Grand Final Day 2018 after a hard-fought victory over Berwick Blue in the Under-11 Red decider.
Beaconsfield had a nice break on the Wickers heading into the last term and two quick goals to start the final quarter put the issue beyond doubt.
Beaconsfield coach Mark Craig was thrilled with his team’s performance.
“Words can’t explain it to be honest, I’m just so proud of the boys and what they’ve achieved,“ Craig said.
”We started all the way back in February and ramped things up heading into finals and it’s all paid off today. We bonded well and became a really strong team and that’s why we got this outcome.”
Craig praised Berwick for being such wonderful competition, and then heaped praise on his own club as a whole.
“I just want to thank the everyone at the club, everyone involved in making it a special place for these kids to play footy,” he said.
“To my team manager, the runner, all the parents, and especially the players, I can’t thank them enough for their efforts.”
And the biggest key to the premiership success?
“We bonded together and we became brothers, we’ve become family and that made a big difference today I think.”
Beaconsfield’s Zander Pereira was awarded the best on ground medal for an outstanding performance through the midfield.
